Playground ongoing develoment

The playground and playing field improvements at Iochdar School were upgraded in 2008. The small playground maintenance is the responsibility of the council. The school has been successful in securing funds from NHSWI and we have added our maintenance budget to fund some restoration work at the school playpark. We retain responsibility for the wilder area with trees. Over the last few years, the sand playsurface has become compacted and grassy.

For the wild area, some additional tree planting has taken place, courtesy of Iochdar Community Council. The central raised area could be developed for a more rustic play area. Ideas for developing this resource include a nature trail, art trail and activity trail. We also envisage some more accessible equipment, either here or at some of the other local play areas.

The ball court is on land currently managed by the school and council. We are in discussion with the council about extending our lease to include the ball court, so that we can upgrade the surface.
